Office of Family Assistance
The Office of Family Assistanceprovides policy, operational, technical assistance and training support for safety net programs that assist low-income Ohioans. This includes:
Cash assistance programsfunded by the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families block grant, including Ohio Works First (OWF) and the Prevention Retention and Contingency programs;
Food assistance programs including, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the Summer EBT Program, the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) and The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP);

Management Evaluation (ME) is a federally mandated program. Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) mandates Ohio provide a plan each year that requires a certain number of counties be reviewed, as well as a certain number of cases. Ensuring the ME Unit is fully staffed is essential to Ohio meeting all FNS mandated requirements.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), known as food stamps, helps low-income people buy nutritious food. SNAP cases are reviewed to make sure they are completed timely and accurately. In this job, the work of county caseworkers is reviewed to see if they are making the correct decision on SNAP cases.
Job Duties- Learn the review process during your probationary period
- Travel to county offices to conduct reviews
- Complete interviews with county staff
- Document information using paper and electronic case records
- Complete 8-10 county reviews a year
- Experienced determining eligibility for SNAP
- Knowledgeable to access and read case information in the Ohio Benefits (OB) eligibility system
- Persistent, thorough, detail-oriented, and well organized
- Independent and manage multiple assignments with overlapping due dates
Full-time
HoursStandard workdays are Monday through Friday. Hours are between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.
TravelOccasional travel within the state of Ohio.
PN(s):
The ideal candidate, at minimum, must have the following: OPTION 1:- Completion of undergraduate core program in social or behavioral science, health or pre-medicine or comparable field;
- 18 mos. exp. in delivery of human services, health care services or medical assistance in governmental, community or private human support services agency or medical provider.
- Completion of graduate core program in social or behavioral science or medicine-related or comparable field;
- 6 mos. exp. in delivery of human services, health care services or medical assistance in governmental, community or private human support services agency or medical provider;
- Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above.

PayInformation
This position is in the State of Ohio’s SEIU/1199 Pay Schedule, Pay Range 12. Unless required by legislation or union contract, starting salary will be the minimum salary of that pay range (step 1, currently $31.74per hour). These ranges provide a standardized pathway for pay increases. With continued employment, new hires move to the next step in the range after 6 months and annually thereafter.
Cost of Living Adjustments increase wages in these ranges each fiscal year. The current step progression wages are in the table below.
