Accountable for day‑to‑day non‑clinical pharmacy operations, ensuring an efficient workflow and a positive patient experience. Serves as a full‑time certified pharmacy technician.
Key Responsibilities- Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions under pharmacist supervision.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and cashiers, ensuring compliance with company policies, state and federal laws, and ethical standards.
- Lead the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel, including training, coaching, and performance management.
- Engage customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance, resolving complaints, and modeling best customer service practices.
- Assist the pharmacist in patient care tasks such as registration, prescription data entry, medication preparation, counting, verifying, and vaccine administration where allowed by law.
- Drive new technology and process roll‑out, champion change, and engage the team around action planning.
- Maintain accurate processing of insurance claims, follow up with insurance companies, and conduct or participate in third‑party audits.
- Communicate prescription errors to the accountable pharmacist and adhere to company policies for pharmacy errors and the Continuous Quality Improvement Program.
- Support the Pharmacy Manager in analyzing and improving pharmacy financials, operational quality, and customer service.
- Lead performance management of technicians, making decisions regarding discipline and termination.
- Accountable for hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling of pharmacy technicians.
- Ensure all pharmacy team licensures, registrations, and certifications are active and compliant with regulatory requirements.
- Follow established policies for selection, recruitment, record retention, and training.
- Maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state required certification/registration.
- Obtain necessary certifications, education credits, and training such as LTMP e‑modules as required by the company.
- Seek professional development by monitoring performance, soliciting feedback, and leveraging a mentor or coach.
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
- One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours.
- Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations).
- Previous people management/leadership experience.
- Previous work experience with Walgreens with an exceeding expectation on last performance evaluation.
