We are seeking a Chaplain Resident to serve in the Health System Shared Services | Pastoral Care division at The Ohio State University Medical Center.
Scope of PositionThe Chaplain Resident provides educational, training, and service opportunities within the Department of Chaplaincy and Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE). As a student in the OSU Medical Center's accredited CPE program, the resident is a temporary full‑time employee for one year during the residency timespan.
Responsibilities include:
- Deliver pastoral care to patients, families, and staff within assigned areas.
- Perform rotating in‑house on‑call coverage during designated nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Participate fully in the Clinical Pastoral Education program, completing all required educational duties.
- Document interventions in the medical record per department procedures.
- Operate under the supervision of CPE Supervisors certified by ACPE.
Authorized to visit patients, families, and staff to provide pastoral and spiritual care ministry according to Chaplaincy Department procedures, the Chaplain Resident will report to the CPE Program Manager and to the Director of Chaplaincy and CPE.
Minimum Education RequiredMaster's level degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Qualifications- College degree plus master’s level theological degree or equivalent.
- Completion of at least one unit of certified Clinical Pastoral Education.
- Ability to serve in a full‑time capacity during the residency term.

Term (Fixed Term), one‑year. - Weekly scheduled hours: 40.
- Shift: First Shift.
Final candidates will undergo a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post‑offer process.
