Description:
This position involves caring for patients with solid tumor cancers throughout their cancer journey.
Duties will include managing patients from new diagnosis through treatment and assisting in end-of-life care transitions.
The staffing ratio aims for 1:4 but may be adjusted to 1:5 based on unit needs.
Weekend shifts will vary depending on unit requirements.
There is no set or blocked scheduling as the organization does not offer this for staff.
Self-scheduling requests will be taken into account before finalizing the schedule.
During the orientation period, the first week will focus on training, while the second week emphasizes hands-on on-unit experience with a preceptor.
The role includes caring for adults and geriatric patients with various diagnoses, including but not limited to breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancers.
Candidates will be expected to follow strict infection prevention protocols and manage patient safety related to falls.
Telemetry skills, including monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias, are essential for this role.
Floating to other medical-surgical oncology units may be required.
Previous travel nursing experience is preferred.
