Job Description

The Bureau of Survey and Certification (BOSC) is responsible for conducting survey inspections to ensure health care providers and clinical laboratories are compliant with state and federal requirements. BOSCis hiring for a Nurse Aide Training and Competency Evaluation Program (NATCEP) Coordinator. The primary focus of NATCEP is to make available to future CNAs the training and testing opportunities needed to provide safe and compassionate care to residents and others under the care of Ohio’s nursing homes and long-term care facilities.

The NATCEP Coordinator is responsible for approving and monitoring NATCEP, Train-the-Trainer (TTT), and Dining Assistant (DA) programs to ensure they meet minimum state and federal requirements.

What You’ll Do
  • Provide consultation and technical assistance on NATCEPs, TTT , and DA programs (e.g., explain state & federal rules & regulations, discuss citations)
  • Conduct on-site surveys of NATCEP, TTT , and DA programs to determine whether such programs meet the state & federal requirements for approval
  • Evaluate and approve initial and reapproval applications for NATCEP, TTT, and DA programs
  • Identify training needs pertaining to NATCEP, TTT, and DA programs
  • Approve, where required, NATCEP, TTT, and DA programs class schedules, trainee reports, and change forms
  • Prepare written reports, records, and correspondence (e.g., NATCEP disapprovals)
  • Research special problems, evaluate data and recommend corrective action to supervisor
  • Review field survey reports of facility-based and non-facility based NATCEP, TTT, and DA programs
  • Attend in-service training and conferences as assigned
  • Prepare and deliver speeches to community groups, providers, consumers and other agencies as directed
