Position Title:
Research Senior Technician – College of Medicine | Pathology.

Position Summary
- Assist and support scientific investigation to study Leishmania disease transmission and vaccine development as directed in the Department of Pathology.
- Independently conduct assigned experiments and perform a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures, and Northern and Western analysis.
- Sort and process tissue and blood samples; test and evaluate current procedures; perform routine procedures on lab animals.
- Record, consolidate and assist with analysis of research results; evaluate validity of data obtained from experimental procedures; summarize data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts.
- Prepare research progress reports; assist principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; conduct library research on requested topics.
- Oversee and maintain accurate records of laboratory activities; assist with training of junior research staff, undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation; set up and operate laboratory equipment.
- Monitor research supply, including specimens, inventory, and initiate procurement requests as needed.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research.
- Experience in public health with managing/constructing REDCap database is preferred.
