Position Summary

Provide technical pre‑sales support to targeted partners and national resellers for IT server cabinet sales applications or datacenter rack infrastructure offerings. This position provides configuration assistance or actual product configuration development, interacts with national resellers’ technical teams on customer application requirements, reviews bid specifications and compliance documentation, and supplies competitive cross‑reference inputs. In addition, the engineer offers technical guidance or clarification to national reseller sales teams to best position information for effective selling.

The role primarily interfaces with the national reseller technical teams, national reseller sales teams, and Vertiv sales teams.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical pre‑sales support between Vertiv and targeted resellers.
  • Provide pre‑sales quality technical application support to sales personnel and customers. Support the proper selection and sizing of products and accessories, accurately explain and discuss product features and applications, and support sales efforts and facilitate order capture rates.
  • Collaborate with sales personnel to identify requirements and provide quotations for custom configurations.
  • Collaborate and communicate closely with Vertiv field sales teams supporting the same opportunity.
  • Review or generate the optimized Vertiv configuration to solve a specific national reseller opportunity set of application requirements.
  • Assist in technical sales positioning on proposals considering specifications, competition, winning criteria (price, performance, efficiency, or footprint).
  • Provide pre‑sale applications engineering support via phone, e‑mail, and web to national resellers.
  • Provide competitive evaluations to national resellers when appropriate.
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business management, operations management, marketing, mechanical engineering, computer science, or another relevant degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a sales support or manufacturing support role; a technical support role, custom design support role, or inside sales support role.
  • Working knowledge of IT server cabinet sales applications or datacenter rack infrastructure, electronic circuits and electrical distribution systems, or networking and IT infrastructure.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.
  • Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
  • Highly detail‑oriented with a critical degree of accuracy for problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Capability of effectively interacting with global personnel.
  • Professional attitude toward customer relations.
Physical & Environmental Demands
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
