Digital Accessibility Coordinator## Department:
Veterinary Medicine | College Administration The College of Veterinary Medicine at The Ohio State University is seeking applications for a Digital Accessibility Coordinator. The Accessibility Coordinator balances human need and mitigating risk to the university and conducts comprehensive accessibility evaluations for software applications under consideration for purchase and deployment. The coordinator will also ensure compliance with the university’s Digital Accessibility Policy and assists in testing sites, applications, surveys, and third-party products and services to ensure they are accessible to people with a broad range of disabilities.
As an advocate for, and expert in, accessibility, consult with vendors and college staff to help them determine how to make their products and services accessible; may participate on Request for Proposal (RFP) committees for third-party products and services; and contribute to the development and delivery of training in accessibility to faculty and staff who create content, maintain websites, or develop applications.
The successful candidate will maintain reports on evaluations conducted, retesting efforts, and requested exceptions. The Digital Accessibility Coordinator will be the resident expert for the College of Veterinary Medicine on technical questions about digital accessibility and provide training and support to faculty and instructors in creating digitally accessible content. The coordinator will be expected to stay abreast of evolving best practices and standards in IT accessibility, proactively sharing this knowledge with the Digital Accessibility Services team, the ADA Coordinator’s Office, and the CVM Office of Teaching & Learning, web developers, faculty and staff responsible for digital content.##

* Required Qualifications:
** Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; 2-4 years’ experience in website or application design or development; able to successfully work with individuals of many different personalities, backgrounds, skill sets, and expertise. Has expressed interest or experience in efforts to make digital content accessible.
** Desired
Qualifications:
** OSU Accessibility Tester Certification strongly desired; 1-3 years’ experience in evaluating the accessibility of software, creating accommodation and remediation plans, and assisting design and development teams in remediating accessibility issues strongly desired; deep understanding of tools to aid in Accessibility evaluation; experience working with people with Disabilities; experience testing for and remediation of accessibility barriers in Web, Mobile, and Native applications;
understanding of HTML, JavaScript, and CSS; experience using assistive technologies; understanding and passion for Accessibility issues; experience in regulatory compliance; significant knowledge of current and emerging accessible development practices and…
