This is a critical role on the Core Infrastructure team focused on enabling modern application architectures to take advantage of public Cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI. The ideal leader has a passion for Cloud technologies, loves to learn, and is ready to make an impact. You will lead a team of approximately 15 engineers and build a critical component of cloud architecture that supports all areas of the enterprise.
The position will be a hybrid role located in Columbus, OH and will report to an AVP.
- Lead and manage engineering teams (≈15 engineers) to deliver secure, resilient cloud solutions.
- Drive cost efficiency, capacity management, and expense optimization across product life cycles.
- Establish and maintain secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Serve as the first line of defense for product risk and security management.
- Align product and platform strategies with industry best practices.
- Allocate roles, manage talent, and develop workforce capacity.
- Drive delivery availability, resiliency, documentation, observability, and proactive monitoring.
- Manage vendor relationships, procure external resources, and negotiate on major cloud spend.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to set a strategic vision for the cloud platform aligned with business goals.
- Create a roadmap for cloud product enhancements and future capabilities such as AI and serverless.
- Oversee lifecycle management across on‑prem, off‑prem, and cloud platforms.
- Develop product strategy, roadmap, and portfolio management.
- Demonstrate user empathy and incorporate user sentiment into platform capabilities.
- Mentor and develop associates, including performance management and career development.
- Drive release cadence, automation, and speed through continuous improvement.
- Develop and manage project budgets, deployment plans, and training investments.
- Participate in technology leadership initiatives and strategic projects.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to the platform.
- Collaborate with business units, understanding their needs and translating them into platform capabilities.
Reports to an AVP in the Technology Engineering organization. Responsible for direct management of three or more Technology professionals.
Typical Skills and Experiences- Education:
Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, or a related field (strongly preferred). - License/Certification:
Technology certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure, scripting, development languages, delivery methods, security) encouraged but not required. - Experience:
10 years of project management concepts and techniques; experience leading multiple teams and assets across various technology platforms; 3 years of management experience preferred. - Knowledge, Abilities &
Skills:
budgeting and financial analysis; application development strategies; strong analytical and decision‑making skills; interpersonal and leadership abilities; financial and risk analysis; negotiation; excellent oral and written communication.
