The Network Administrator is responsible for managing, maintaining, and securing the organization’s network infrastructure. This includes configuring network hardware and software, troubleshooting connectivity issues, optimizing performance, and ensuring compliance with cybersecurity standards.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS- Evaluating network performance issues including availability, utilization, throughput, and latency; planning and executing the selection, installation, configuration, and testing of equipment; defining network policies and procedures; establishing connections and firewalls.
- Maintaining network performance by performing network monitoring and analysis, and performance tuning; troubleshooting network problems; escalating problems to vendor.
- Securing network by developing network access, monitoring, control, and evaluation; maintaining documentation.
- Upgrading network by consulting with vendors; developing, testing, evaluating, and installing enhancements.
- Troubleshooting and supporting network hardware and software.
- Supporting VPNs, remote access, and cloud‑based network services.
- Collaborating with systems and cybersecurity teams to ensure network integrity.
- Updating job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
- Protecting the organization’s value by keeping information confidential.
- Accomplishing organization goals by accepting ownership for new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Supporting IT Helpdesk escalated tickets.
- Answering inbound calls when needed.
- Providing technical support and training to end‑users.
- Extensive LAN/WAN experience & knowledge.
- Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and routing protocols.
- Network design and implementation expertise.
- Network performance tuning, problem solving, strategic planning.
