Solu is seeking an experienced Database Administrator (DBA3) to administer, maintain, and optimize enterprise-level Microsoft SQL Server environments across both on-premises and Azure platforms. The DBA3 will be responsible for database configuration, performance tuning, security, backup and recovery, High Availability/Disaster Recovery (HA/DR), replication, and database migrations. This role will support Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server hosted on Azure Virtual Machines while partnering with IT Architecture, development teams, and agency leadership to design scalable database solutions and establish standards for security, data exchange, and performance.

The DBA3 will also provide Tier III technical support, contribute to solution design and business cases, mentor junior staff, and may participate in disaster recovery or incident response activities requiring 24/7 support.

• Install, configure, patch, upgrade, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server instances across production, staging, development, on-premises, and Azure environments.
• Manage server storage, system databases, data files, database configuration, and overall system health.
• Monitor and tune database performance, including resource utilization, indexes, complex queries, blocking, deadlocks, and database availability.
• Design, implement, test, and maintain database backup and recovery strategies.
• Develop and deploy HA/DR solutions, including Always On Availability Groups, Log Shipping, Failover Cluster Instances, and database replication.
• Administer Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and SQL Server hosted on Azure Virtual Machines.
• Configure and support Azure database backup, monitoring, security, migration, and disaster recovery solutions.
• Use Azure Monitor and Log Analytics to monitor database performance and availability.
• Implement database security controls, including RBAC, user logins, permissions, encryption at rest and in transit, and Azure Key Vault.
• Partner with development teams on database architecture, schema and table design, data types, stored procedures, triggers, functions, and complex T-SQL queries.
• Conduct code reviews and provide guidance on database design, performance, and best practices.
• Develop T-SQL, Power Shell, and command-line scripts to automate database maintenance, backups, integrity checks, statistics updates, monitoring, and reporting.
• Support database migrations and integrations between on-premises SQL Server and Azure environments.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for installations, monitoring, security, configuration changes, migrations, and development standards.
• Collaborate with IT Architecture, the CIO, IT Managers, and security leadership to develop solutions that meet agency requirements and State of Ohio security standards.
• Provide Tier III resolution for complex and critical database issues.
• Contribute to solution design, business case development, database strategies, and project planning activities.
• Mentor peers and lower-level technical staff through formal instruction and technical documentation.
• Participate in Disaster Recovery/Business Resumption or Incident Response teams when assigned, including potential 24/7 support at remote locations.

• Required 4 Years College degree.
• Required 5 Years Performance Monitoring & Tuning.
• Required 5 Years Security & Compliance:
  Implement strict role-based access control (RBAC).
• Required 5 Years Developer Support & Code Review.
• Required 5 Years dedicated hands-on experience managing enterprise-level Microsoft SQL Server database environments, including on-premises and Azure-based platforms.
