Position: Highway Patrol Trooper (Cadet)

Job Summary

Highway Patrol Cadet – Ohio State Highway Patrol (Job X) is a full‑time training position that offers competitive pay, benefits, and a clear career path for U.S. citizens 20‑39 years of age. Cadets will reside at the HP Academy Monday through Friday and receive on‑camp training while being compensated $22.00 per hour during the academy period.

Compensation

$34.22 upon graduation

Schedule

Full‑time, Variable hours – Cadets will reside at the academy Monday through Friday.

Eligibility

• 20‑39 years of age

• U.S. Citizen

• Ohio residency must be established prior to commissioning

• Valid Ohio Driver’s License

Disqualifiers
  • Recent use of any drug of abuse not prescribed by a physician
  • Recent marijuana use
  • Past felony drug convictions or driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs within the last five years (or more than one charge ever)
Qualifications
  • Adaptability, Attention to Detail, Critical Thinking, Decision Making
  • Background check and drug screening clearance
  • Physical fitness meeting the HP Academy standards
  • Vision:
    Correctable to 20/20 monocular vision; normal color vision
  • Hearing:
    Able to perceive a stimulus 500‑3000 Hz at 30 dB or better in each ear (hearing aid variance possible)
