Electrical Technologist

As an Electrical Technologist, you’ll be a key part of this process—prototyping, fabricating, assembling, integrating, and testing the electronic and audio-visual components that bring hands-on experiences to life.

This is a multidisciplinary, hands-on role ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced production environment. Working under the direction of the Electrical Production Manager, you’ll work closely with designers, engineers, and fabricators to develop, refine, and install custom electronic systems for interactive exhibits and media-based experiences.

• Electrical design and schematics: Read, interpret, and create schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts, and floor plans for exhibit and attraction systems.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose faults in electrical, electronic, A/V, and control systems, and verify wiring and connections to ensure safe, reliable operation.
• Controls and instrumentation: Hands-on experience with control panels, PLCs or similar controllers, and low-voltage systems. Able to select and integrate sensors, actuators, and control devices into interactive, immersive environments.
• Fabrication: Proficient with hand tools, soldering, and fabrication equipment for assembling electrical and A/V systems.
• Organization and collaboration: Keep detailed technical records, use past builds to guide troubleshooting, and manage multiple projects and deadlines. Communicate and collaborate well with designers, engineers, and fabricators.

• Experience and education: 3+ years of hands-on experience in electrical, electronic, or computer technology. An associate degree, diploma, or technical training in electrical technology, electrical engineering, mechatronics, computer technology, or a related field. Graduates with less experience are encouraged to apply, and relevant experience will be considered in place of formal education.
• Programming and design tools: Experience programming microcontrollers (Arduino/C++); other programming languages or PLC programming are a plus. Experience with Touch Designer for interactive media programming, circuit board design, and CAD, Sketch Up, or Solid Works.
• Power, fabrication, and A/V: Experience with power system design, high-voltage control box fabrication, VFDs (variable frequency drives), 3D printing, and audio/video editing and installation. Knowledge of applicable electrical codes, safety standards, and best practices in a fabrication or construction environment.

• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
• Comfortable working in shop conditions, active construction sites, and installation environments.
• Ability to stand, lift, bend, and work with hands-on fabrication tools for extended periods.
• Must be able to operate computers, test equipment, and machinery as needed.
• Willingness to travel domestically or internationally for installations or maintenance trips.
