Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit position with high-acuity PCU experience and night shifts required.
Responsibilities- Work in a comprehensive cancer center with 318 acute care beds
- Unit specializes in oncology, including BMT, acute leukemia, hematology, medical oncology, gynecological oncology, urology, colorectal, surgical oncology, and corrections healthcare
- Floating to both Med Surg and PCU Oncology units as needed
- Patient ratios in PCU are 1:3, may be 1:4 with mixed acuity;
Med Surg Tele typically 1:4, up to 1:5 - Self-scheduling requests are taken before balancing and posting the final schedule
- Night shifts (3x12 hours, 19:00–7:30) with variable weekends based on unit needs
- First week orientation is Monday–Friday dayshift, followed by five bedside orientation shifts over weeks 2 and 3
- Strict adherence to infection prevention protocols and patient fall guidelines is expected
- Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly upon contract signing
- First week includes structured day shift orientation followed by bedside orientation
- Former employees must have been away from the facility for six months to be eligible
- Current employees at any Ohio State University hospital are ineligible for traveler positions
- Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers
- All requests for time off must be submitted before contract finalization
- Active OH or compact RN license in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of recent high-acuity PCU or higher-level experience required
- ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications are required
- Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program required
- Oncology experience preferred but not required
- Two professional references required, including one from a manager, director, or supervisor
