0.6 FTE, 24 hours/week, primarily 7 pm—7 am with select day‑shift opportunities and training requirements, every third weekend, rotating holiday requirements.
Job Description SummaryFollows the patients’ journey from diagnosis of a complicated anomaly through surgery and intervention, delivery, and recovery, treating the full spectrum of fetal complications. Practices professional nursing and promotes patient advocacy in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses and maintains a current Ohio Nursing License.
Essential Functions- Provides nursing care using a family‑centered approach within fetal care and special delivery services, including providing inpatient antepartum and postpartum care and evaluation of maternal and fetal health status pre‑ and post‑fetal procedure or delivery.
- Demonstrates sterile and aseptic techniques as appropriate in the performance of and/or assisting with procedures and interventions.
- Performs procedures under the direction of Obstetric and Maternal Fetal Medicine Providers and in accordance with provider orders, the Ohio Board of Nursing Law and Rules.
- Administers appropriate obstetric medications in accordance with hospital policy and under the direction of the Obstetric and Maternal Fetal Medicine Providers and a written order.
- Plans, implements, educates, and evaluates care using evidence‑based practices.
- Utilizes therapeutic communication while monitoring the physical, psychological, and social needs of patients and families.
BSN or Associate’s Degree in Nursing, willing to commit to obtaining a BSN within 5 years of hire.
Licensure RequirementRegistered Nurse licensed in the state of Ohio, required.
Certifications- Electronic Fetal Monitoring, BLS, NRP, required.
- ACLS or ALSO, preferred.
- Competency in obstetric nursing clinical practice.
- Completes ongoing and annual Fetal Center Staff RN competencies.
- Demonstrated knowledge of dosages, desired effects, side effects, and adverse reactions.
- Five years inpatient obstetric nursing, required.
- Labor and delivery and high‑risk antepartum experience, preferred.
Occasionally:
Climb stairs/ladder, fume/gases/vapors, hand use: grasping, gripping, turning. Lifting/carrying: 41‑60 lbs, 61‑100 lbs. Machinery, power tools, pushing/pulling: 100 lbs or greater with assistance. Frequently:
Bend/twist, biohazard waste, blood and/or bodily fluids, chemicals/medications, communicable diseases and/or pathogens, depth perception, electricity, lifting/carrying: 0‑10 lbs, 11‑20 lbs, 21‑40 lbs, patient equipment, pushing/pulling: 0‑25 lbs, 26‑40 lbs, 41‑60 lbs, 61‑100 lbs, reaching above shoulder, repetitive hand/arm use, sitting, squat/kneel. Continuously:
Audible speech, color vision, computer skills, decision making, hearing acuity, interpreting data, peripheral vision, problem solving, seeing—far/near, standing, walking.
