PCU Registered Nurse Job Details
  • Location: Columbus, Ohio 43210 (Ohio nursing jobs)
  • Unit: 10 BSH Stroke Unit (PCU/Neuro Stepdown)
  • Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 1/12/2026 – End: 4/13/2026)
  • Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), rotating weekdays, weekends, and holidays
  • Hours per Week: 36
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,940 – $1,990
  • Patient Ratio: 1:4
  • Orientation: 24 hours
  • Floating: Required to float to other hospital units as needed
  • Flu Vaccine: Required (medical exemptions only)
  • COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required
PCU RN Qualifications
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or Medical-Surgical RN experience required
  • Active Registered Nurse license (compact RN license or Ohio RN license required at time of submission)
  • Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
  • BLS certification (required)
  • EPIC electronic health records experience (required)
  • ACLS and NIHSS certifications preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
  • Ability to provide two professional references (one from a manager/director or formal leadership role; charge RN acceptable for second reference)
  • Must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly upon contract signing
  • Former employees eligible if away for 6+ months; current employees ineligible for travel nursing roles
PCU Registered Nurse Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality, compassionate nursing care to adult patients on a busy stroke and neuro stepdown unit
  • Monitor and manage patients with neurological diagnoses, including stroke, craniotomy, traumatic brain injury, and other complex neuro conditions
  • Administer medications, titrate cardiac drips, and manage central and peripheral lines
  • Interpret and manage cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmias
  • Provide care for patients with feeding tubes, lumbar drains, and post-neurosurgical needs
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams including physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and social services
  • Float to other hospital units within the organization as needed
  • Maintain accurate documentation using EPIC electronic health records
  • Adhere to infection control and isolation precautions
