Job Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit night shift position in an oncology-focused environment, requiring a compact or OH RN license and strong PCU skills.

Responsibilities
  • Work in a comprehensive cancer center Progressive Care Unit specializing by cancer diagnosis
  • Patient population includes oncology, BMT, acute leukemia, hematology, medical oncology, gynecological oncology, urology, colorectal, surgical oncology, and corrections healthcare cases
  • Expected to float to Med Surg and PCU Oncology units
  • PCU patient ratios are 1:3, may be 1:4 with mixed acuity;
    Med/Surg Telemetry ideally 1:4, may be 1:5
  • Night shifts (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
  • Weekend schedule is variable based on unit needs
  • Staff use self-scheduling requests; no set or block scheduling offered
  • First week of orientation is Monday-Friday day shift, followed by five bedside orientation shifts between weeks 2 and 3 before working independently
  • Main responsibilities include providing care to oncology and progressive care patients with a focus on infection prevention and fall reduction
  • Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly as instructed after booking
  • Locals are accepted at the same rate as travelers
  • First week consists of orientation prior to independent work
  • RTO (requested time off) must be provided at time of consideration and built into the contract
  • Staff are expected to adhere to strict infection control protocols
Requirements
  • Active OH or compact RN license required at time of consideration
  • Minimum 2 years recent high-acuity PCU or higher experience required
  • Current certifications in ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS required
  • Oncology experience preferred but not required
  • Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
  • Must provide 2 professional references, at least one from a manager or formal leader
  • Former employees must be separated for at least 6 months to be eligible
