American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit night shift position requiring an active OH or compact RN license and surgical oncology experience.
Details- Work on a mixed acuity Surgical Oncology/PCU unit caring for both PCU and Med Surg patients
- Night shift schedule, 3x12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Patient ratios typically 1:4, with potential for 1:5
- Variable weekend scheduling based on unit needs
- No set or blocked scheduling offered
- Floating required within scope of practice
- Potential for rotating day/night scheduling reviewed every 4-week period based on department needs
- Patient population includes adult and geriatric surgical oncology patients
- Cares for surgical oncology, hepatobiliary, colorectal, and plastics/reconstructive patients
- Performs chemotherapy administration, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and management of oncologic emergencies
- Manages cytokine release syndrome, insulin drips, and heparin drips
- Strong emphasis on infection prevention and fall prevention protocols
- Utilizes Epic for computerized charting
- Active OH or compact RN license required at time of submission
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- ONS Chemo certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of current, consistent acute care nursing experience within the last 12 months required
- At least 1 year of PCU experience required
- Oncology experience preferred but not required
- Epic charting experience required
- Experience with BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur Evac), and tracheostomy care preferred
- Cardiac telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation, and management skills required
- Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a manager/director or supervisor and the second from a charge RN; no coworker references accepted
- Provide direct patient care including chemotherapy administration, telemetry monitoring, and emergency response to oncologic complications
- Participate in dysrhythmia monitoring and management on the unit
- Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process promptly upon contract signing due to strict compliance timelines
- First-time travelers are welcome and encouraged to apply with a willingness to learn and grow
- Local candidates are accepted at the same rate
- Former employees are eligible to return as travelers after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are not eligible to work as travelers at any OSU facility
- Requested RTO must be submitted with the contract and limited to 7 days or less
