Position Summary

The PMHNP provides psychiatric evaluations, medication management, treatment planning, and ongoing psychiatric care for adolescents residing in a residential treatment setting.

The population served commonly presents with:

  • ADHD
  • Anxiety Disorders
  • Depressive Disorders
  • Trauma-Related Disorders
  • Behavioral Disorders
  • Mood Disorders
  • Co-occurring Mental Health Needs

The PMHNP plays a critical role in supporting youth who have experienced trauma, abuse, family instability, and other significant emotional and behavioral challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments
  • Develop, implement, and oversee individualized psychiatric treatment plans
  • Prescribe, monitor, and adjust psychotropic medications using evidence-based practices
  • Provide ongoing psychiatric follow-up, medication reviews, and clinical consultation
  • Collaborate closely with therapists, nurses, case managers, and other treatment team members
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning meetings
  • Provide clinical leadership during psychiatric crises and support safety planning efforts
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory standards
  • Communicate effectively with families, legal guardians, referral sources, hospitals, and community providers
  • Support a trauma-informed and therapeutic treatment environment
Qualifications Required
  • Master's or Doctoral Degree in Nursing with a Psychiatric-Mental Health specialization
  • Active Ohio APRN licensure
  • Board Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
  • Active DEA registration and prescribing authority
  • Experience working with children and/or adolescents in a behavioral health setting
  • Strong psychiatric assessment, communication, and clinical documentation skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
Preferred
  • Experience in residential treatment, inpatient psychiatry, crisis stabilization, PHP, or IOP settings
  • Experience providing psychiatric care to adolescents with complex behavioral health needs
  • Knowledge of Medicaid and behavioral health regulations
  • Experience utilizing trauma-informed and evidence-based treatment approaches
  • Experience working with youth involved in child welfare, foster care, or juvenile justice systems
  • Experience conducting suicide risk assessments and safety planning
  • Bilingual abilities
Requirements
  • Active Ohio APRN License
  • PMHNP-BC Certification
  • Active DEA Registration
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Minimum age of 21
  • Ability to work onsite in Columbus, Ohio
  • Ability to obtain and maintain all required background clearances
