American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Labor & Delivery position requiring 2 years of L&D experience, Epic proficiency, and specialty certifications.
Details- Labor and Delivery unit within a hospital setting
- High-volume facility with 200-300+ births per month
- Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- 13-week assignment length
- May be required to float within the unit
- Epic EMR experience required
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience required
- Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP
- AWHONN Advanced certification required (NCC C-EFM acceptable in lieu of)
- Proficiency with IV therapy, phlebotomy, and starting/maintaining IVs required
- Experience with administration of blood and blood products
- Experience drawing venous blood and maintaining central lines (CVC/PICC)
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Epic charting system experience required
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role;
Charge RN acceptable for second reference; no coworker references accepted
- Provide comprehensive care across antepartum, labor and delivery, and postpartum phases
- Perform neonatal care in the delivery room including APGAR scoring and baby catching
- Support high-risk antepartum patients and manage complex deliveries including multiple births and postpartum hemorrhage
- Assist with surgical cases such as cesarean sections, cervical cerclage, and tubal ligation
- Circulate and recover C-section patients
- Manage pain through epidural anesthesia support and pain assessment
- Administer Magnesium Sulfate therapy and Pitocin
- Conduct fetal monitoring including NST, external and internal fetal heart monitoring, and IUPC placement/calibration
- Recognize and treat abnormal fetal heart rate patterns and interpret dysrhythmias
- Provide breastfeeding and lactation support
- Perform fundus, lochia, and perineum care along with wound assessment
- Ohio fingerprinting process must be completed urgently upon contract signing, including travel to an Ohio fingerprinting location if candidate resides outside the state
- RTO must be submitted with initial consideration and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
- Local candidates accepted at the same rate
- Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
- Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible for travel assignments
- Previous travel experience preferred but first-time travelers may be considered
