Job Opportunity – Progressive Care Unit / Surgical Oncology RN – Ohio

Start Date: November 16, 2026

Location: Columbus, Ohio

Compensation: Details provided to qualified applicants

Schedule: 12-hour shifts, days/nights or rotating (assignments vary by scheduling period based on unit needs). Variable weekend coverage required. Goal staffing ratio 1:4, may be 1:5. Float required within scope of practice to other acute care oncology units. 16-week contract.

Highlights:

• Mixed acuity unit caring for both Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Medical-Surgical patients with surgical oncology focus
• Patient diagnoses include surgical oncology (breast, thyroid, melanoma), hepatobiliary, colorectal cancers, and reconstructive plastics
• Procedures include chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, oncologic emergencies, cytokine release syndrome management, insulin drips, and heparin drips
• Epic EMR system with GE telemetry monitoring, Alaris pumps, and modern equipment
• Comprehensive interdisciplinary support including IV teams, pharmacy, rapid response, physical therapy, and respiratory services
• 36-bed unit with strong focus on infection prevention protocols and patient safety

Requirements:

• Minimum 2 years of acute care nursing experience with at least 1 year of PCU experience (must be current/consistent within last 12 months)
• Valid RN license (Compact or Ohio state license required at time of submission)
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• ONS Chemotherapy certification preferred
• Epic charting system experience required
• Experience with cardiac telemetry, BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tubes, tracheostomy care, and interpretation/management of dysrhythmias
• Education from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• 2 professional references required (at least one from manager/director or formal leadership role)
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
