Travel RN - Medical ICU

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Medical ICU position requiring Epic proficiency and a minimum of 2 years of MICU experience.

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of Medical ICU experience required
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required (AHA certifications only)
• Epic charting experience required
• Proficient in IV starts
• Experience with telemetry and ventilator management required
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and continuous IV sedation
• Experience managing patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• 2 professional references required, with at least one from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role; a Charge RN may serve as the second reference; coworker references not accepted

• Medical Intensive Care Unit setting
• Patient ratios of approximately 1:1-2
• Rotating 3x12-hour shifts (Day 7:00-19:30 or Night 19:00-7:30), rotating every 4 weeks between days and nights
• 36 hours per week
• Epic EMR required
• Cares for patients with multisystem organ failure, respiratory failure, COVID, sepsis, post-cardiac arrest, DKA, liver failure, and renal failure
• Utilizes continuous glucose monitoring for hyperglycemia and externalized IV pumps for COVID+ patients
• Works with NxStage CRRT, Alaris IV pumps, GE cardiac monitors, GE ventilators, and in-room boom lifts
• Provide direct nursing care to critically ill medical ICU patients with complex, multisystem conditions
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees of Ohio State University hospital locations are ineligible for traveler positions
• RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract; those outside Ohio but within driving distance must travel to a fingerprinting location, while those farther away will receive a mailed fingerprinting packet
• First-time travelers are not preferred for this role
