PCU / Stepdown RN – Job Requirements

Job :  | Facility:
Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center – Columbus, OH Shift: 3x12-hour Days (7:00 AM–7:30 PM)

• Experience:
  
  Minimum 1 year of PCU/Stepdown experience. Candidates with only 1 year require manager review and are not eligible for auto-offers.
• First-Time Travelers:
  Accepted.
• License:
  Active Ohio RN license or qualifying compact multistate license required at submission.
• Certifications:
  
  BLS and ACLS required.
• Charting:
  Epic experience REQUIRED.
• Education:
  
  Graduate of an ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing program.
• Preferred:
  Level I or II trauma experience.

• Cardiac telemetry and dysrhythmia interpretation.
• Titration of cardiac and insulin drips.
• Heparin protocols and blood product administration.
• Management of BiPAP/CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomies, and ventilated patients.
• Central lines, PICCs, chest tubes, and feeding tubes.
• ABG interpretation and rapid response management.
• Care of chronic ventilator and post-lung transplant patients.
• Renal failure and pre/post-hemodialysis care.

• Fingerprinting:
  Ohio fingerprinting must be completed immediately after signing.
• Compliance Deadline:
  Tuesday before start date, with no exceptions.
• Submit to only one OSU location.

• Less than 1 year of relevant PCU/Stepdown experience.
• No Epic experience.
• Missing BLS or ACLS.
• No active Ohio or qualifying compact RN license at submission.
• Nursing education not accredited by ACEN or CCNE.
• Unable to float throughout OSU or meet weekend requirements.
• Unable to complete fingerprinting and compliance on time.
