American Traveler is hiring an RN for a Medical Surgical/Telemetry Oncology unit requiring 2 years of current acute care experience and telemetry monitoring skills.
Details- Work in a Medical Surgical/Telemetry Oncology unit caring for adult and geriatric patients with all subtypes of solid tumor cancers including breast, lung, prostate, pancreatic, colon, and esophageal cancer
- Care spans the full cancer journey from new diagnosis through treatment and transition to end-of-life care
- Patients present with true medical surgical issues alongside oncology diagnoses
- Staffing ratio goal is 1:4, with up to 1:5 possible
- Day shift (3x12, 7:00-19:30) and night shift (3x12, 19:00-7:30) available
- Weekend requirements vary based on unit needs with no set or blocked scheduling
- Floating required to other Med Surg Oncology units
- Uses Epic for computerized charting
- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- BLS certification required
- ONS Chemo certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of current acute care experience required, consistently worked within the last 12 months and specific to the specialty applied for
- Oncology experience preferred but not required
- Telemetry interpretation and monitoring skills required
- IV therapy/phlebotomy skills including starting and maintaining IVs and central line blood draws
- Experience accessing and managing ports preferred
- Blood product administration experience required
- Chemotherapy administration experience preferred
- Cardiac monitoring and emergency response skills including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Isolation precautions and PPE knowledge required
- Tracheostomy care/management skills preferred
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
- Epic charting experience required
- Heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and fall prevention
- Come with a willingness to learn and grow nursing practice in the oncology specialty
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Locals are accepted at the same rate
- Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment once they have been away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees of the health system are ineligible to be hired as a traveler at any location within the system
- 2 professional references required, with at least one from a manager, director, or formal leadership role; a Charge RN may serve as the second reference; coworker references are not accepted
- RTO must be submitted and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
- Candidates must complete Ohio BCI and FBI fingerprinting promptly after accepting an offer, including lifetime background checks
