American Traveler is hiring a Behavioral Health RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring psychiatric nursing experience and an active OH or compact RN license.
Requirements- Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
- BLS certification required
- CPI certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing experience required
- Charge RN experience preferred
- Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
- Experience with medication administration including antipsychotics, antidepressants, antianxiety, mood stabilizers, and sedatives preferred
- Experience caring for patients with psychiatric conditions including schizophrenia-spectrum, bipolar, depressive, anxiety, personality, and trauma-related disorders preferred
- Experience with crisis intervention, de-escalation techniques, and seclusion protocols preferred
- Experience with emergent chemical restraints and physical hold protocols preferred
- Two professional references required, with at least one from a manager/director or supervisor and the second from a charge RN; coworker references not accepted
- Behavioral Health unit within an inpatient hospital setting
- Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
- Every other weekend coverage required
- Patient ratio of 1:6
- Floating required within units of equivalent or lower acuity
- Epic EMR experience required
- Provide direct nursing care to patients with a range of psychiatric and behavioral health conditions
- Utilize therapeutic approaches including behavior management, crisis intervention, and psychoeducation
- Must complete OH BCI and FBI fingerprinting promptly upon accepting an offer, as this is a time-sensitive requirement
- Locals are accepted at the same rate
- First-time travelers are welcome to apply
- Former employees eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
- Current employees are ineligible to be hired as travelers at any Ohio State University hospital location
- Requested RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
