Under the mission of German Village Veterinary Hospital, we are seeking a Full‑Time Registered Veterinary Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will assist in providing examinations and surgical procedures for companion animals in our Columbus, OH facility.

1200 S. High St., Columbus, Ohio 43206.
Shift details:
Monday–Thursday, 8 am – 7 pm;
Friday 8 am – 6 pm;
Saturday 8 am – 1 pm;
Sunday closed.
Compensation: $20‑25 per hour (based on experience).
Job SummaryThe Registered Veterinary Technician provides leadership and training to the medical support staff in the operation of a small animal facility in accordance with hospital policy and procedures, and delivers medical care to patients as allowed under veterinary practice act. The role requires effective communication with team members and clients, strong attention to detail, and solid organizational abilities.
ResponsibilitiesEssential Functions
- Maintain and uphold Core Values and Mission Statement of MVP.
- Provide guidance to support staff to ensure shifts flow smoothly.
- Mentor team members for career advancement and personal development.
- Contribute to the hospital manager’s 360‑degree performance evaluations.
- Provide patient care under the supervision of a DVM.
- Maintain excellent client communication.
- Accurately record all medical, client, and case data in the patient record.
- Review medical records, estimates, or discharge instructions with clients.
- Answer client inquiries about basic animal care and routine procedures; direct medical questions to veterinarians when appropriate.
Additional Functions
- Handle scheduling, payment, and client check‑ins.
- Answer the phone courteously.
- Provide feedback on training programs.
- Participate in job shadows, training interviews, or other learning opportunities.
- Assist with special cleaning duties and clinic upkeep.
- Maintain equipment and perform routine maintenance as directed.
- Delegate additional cleaning tasks during slow periods when a supervisor is absent.
- Identify areas or items needing additional attention.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
- Proficiency in laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental, and nursing skills.
- Ability to remain calm and efficient during stress and fast‑paced environments.
- Skill in administering SQ, IM, and IV injections.
- Knowledge of dosage, common side‑effects, and ability to explain prescription drugs to clients.
- Familiarity with anesthesia and recovery states; alert veterinarians to changes or concerns.
- Competence in extubation, temperature monitoring, and anesthesia recovery.
- Strong reasoning, memory, mathematics, and language abilities in English.
- Confidence in interacting with pets.
Required Education And Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- State Department of Regulation licensing.
- At least one year of veterinary industry experience.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb; lift up to 50 lb solo or 100 lb with a coworker.
- Endure prolonged standing or walking on hard floors.
- Operate in a noisy environment with animal and equipment sounds.
- Adequate vision (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth).
- Good hand‑eye coordination and keyboard proficiency.
- Acceptance of exposure to pets, anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and controlled substances.
Travel required:
Minimal travel for vendor visits and associate education.
