Seasonal Golf Course Maintenance

Overview

This position will assist with the maintenance and repair of the golf course and related equipment by performing various manual tasks including but not limited to mowing grass, emptying trash cans, changing light bulbs and other related tasks.

• Provides internal and external customer service
• Works in the maintenance and repair of the golf course, equipment, buildings and grounds; performs associated paperwork
• Handles equipment in a safe and appropriate manner; uses safety equipment when appropriate
• Coordinates work tasks with other golf course and pro shop staff
• Drives City vehicles

Regular, predictable, and punctual attendance is required.

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum one year of related experience

• Minimum 18 years of age

• Current and valid Ohio driver’s license with an acceptable driver’s abstract in order to meet criteria for insurability established by the City of Gahanna

• The worker may be called to work 24 hours/day, 7 days/week
• The worker may be required to wear specialized personal protective equipment
• Performs all other duties as assigned by Supervisor

Knowledge of:

• Principles, practices, equipment, tools and materials used in parks maintenance and construction
• Landscaping and horticulture as applied to golf course and grounds areas
• Necessary precautions involved in the use of tools and landscaping equipment

Skill in:

• As a member of the Parks Department, there is a high degree of accountability as most of the Department relates directly to the citizens of the City of Gahanna. Errors in judgment and/or legal difficulties will be dealt with directly by the Parks or Facilities Superintendent and the Director of Parks and Recreation.

• Perform manual labor for extended periods, often under unfavorable weather conditions
• Exert 100 pounds of force occasionally; up to 50 pounds of force frequently and up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects
• Work requires climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, and repetitive motions

• The employee is subject to inside and outside environment conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, noise, vibration, hazards and atmospheric conditions
