Position Overview

The Quality Assurance Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the company's Food Safety and Quality Programs are upheld to the highest standards. This position will involve assisting in various aspects of quality assurance, including supplier approval programs, document control, certification programs, and laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in maintaining Food Safety and Quality Programs such as supplier approval program, GMPs, Food Fraud Program, and document control.
  • Participate in mock recall or traceability practices.
  • Assist in managing internal lab, lab waste control, and out-sourced labs.
  • Complete laboratory operations, food analysis, method validation, and equipment calibration.
  • Verify production records and manage product release.
  • Implement and enforce all FSQA programs to remain compliant with regulatory, third-party, and customer audits.
  • Generate Certificate of Analysis with accurate information for finished products.
  • Perform internal inspection, internal auditing program, and quality line checks.
  • Investigate customer complaints and internal deviations.
  • Support sanitation function and perform environmental swabbing and chemical testing.
  • Assist in the implementation of certified programs such as Organic, Kosher, Non-GMO Project Verified, Gluten-Free, etc.
  • Attend all required meetings and training sessions.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as requested by the Quality Systems Manager and/or Director of FSQA.
Specific Responsibilities Relating to Food Safety, Legality, and Quality
  • Complete required FSQA, Safety, and Job training.
  • Enforce all quality and food safety programs.
  • Verify documentation is correct and record-keeping is compliant.
  • Take necessary action to prevent food safety, legality, and quality problems from occurring.
  • Follow and enforce programs and procedures outlined in the Food Safety and Quality Manual to support compliance with the GFSI Standard and other third-party audits.
Required Experience and Skills
  • Degree in Science preferred or equivalent experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Demonstrated effective Food Safety knowledge (i.e., HACCP, Allergen Control, Sanitation, GMPs, etc.).
  • Excellent communicative skills.
  • Teamwork and collaboration.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
