Research Senior Technician – Biological Chemistry & Pharmacology
Join to apply for the Research Senior Technician role at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Responsibilities- Assist and support scientific investigation studying genome editing technologies to advance treatments for genetic diseases.
- Independently conduct assigned experiments in the Department of Biological Chemistry and Pharmacology & Gene Therapy Institute.
- Perform a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures, and Northern and Western blot analysis.
- Sort and process tissue and blood samples; conduct routine procedures on lab animals.
- Record, consolidate, and assist with analysis of research results; evaluate validity of data obtained from experimental procedures.
- Summarize data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts; prepare research progress reports.
- Assist principal investigator with preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts.
- Conduct library research on requested topics and research current literature.
- Oversee and maintain accurate records of laboratory activities; assist with training of junior research staff and students.
- Set up and operate laboratory equipment; monitor research supply, including specimens and inventory; initiate procurement requests as needed.
- Bachelor's level degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience with a High School diploma or GED, 2 years with an Associate's Degree, or 0 years with a Bachelor's Degree.
- Ability to translate, adapt, and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research.
Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post‑offer process.
