Post Doctoral Scientist - Biobehavioral Health

Overview

Dr. Ahna Pai in the Center for Biobehavioral Health (CBH) seeks a Postdoctoral Fellow to partner with faculty in the formulation, development, and implementation of research in the area of pediatric oncology and hematopoietic stem cell or solid organ transplantation. CBH conducts research on pediatric health topics including regimen self‑management, adherence, nutrition, pain, neurodevelopment, and coping in the context of diagnosis and treatment.

The Postdoctoral Fellow will be integral to maintaining CBH’s strong collaborative reputation by ensuring the integrity of research study design, data collection, management, analysis, and dissemination.

Conduct research, design experiments, analyze data, and present findings under the mentorship of an established RI principal investigator or Senior Research Scientist. Appointment is a maximum of 7 years in length.

• Design experiments, develop protocols, and conduct research under guidance of a faculty mentor.
• Assist in training and supervision of technical support staff performing essential techniques.
• Record and analyze data generated by the research study; assist in developing hypotheses for further investigation.
• Assist with preparation of scientific and technical papers for peer‑reviewed journals; present findings at local and national forums.
• Collaborate with ongoing research efforts at NCH or Ohio State University.
• Work toward research independence; prepare and submit proposals to external granting agencies.

PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant scientific field, required.

Research experience from PhD program, required.

Occasionally:
Bend/twist, climb stairs/ladder, lift/carry 11‑20 lbs. Frequently: lift/carry 0‑10 lbs, stand, walk. Continuously: audible speech, color vision, computer skills, decision making, depth perception, flex/extending neck, hand use: grasping, gripping, turning, hearing acuity, interpreting data, peripheral vision, problem solving, reaching above shoulder, repetitive hand/arm use, seeing – far/near, sitting, squat/kneel.

Pressure in this position will vary with workload; workload will be heavy but manageable most of the time. Pressure may arise in the face of deadlines associated with research and manuscript writing.
