Overview
The Research Senior Technician participates in planning, design, execution, and management of research projects in Dr. Liping Yang’s group at the Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Ohio State University. Responsibilities include developing and implementing goals of studies; designing and executing complex laboratory experiments; performing advanced molecular and cellular techniques (spectral flow cytometry, single-cell proteomics/genomics, CRISPR, highly multiplexed tissue imaging, spatial transcriptomics, etc.);
care of mice and execution of animal studies (weaning, genotyping, breeding, collection of mouse tissues and isolation of primary cells); collecting, analyzing and interpreting research data; assisting in development and implementation of new or revised research methodologies; testing experimental designs, sampling techniques, and analytical methods with recommendations for utilization; establishing controls, criteria and research standards; performing literature reviews; assisting in preparing research papers, manuscripts for publication and conference presentations, and in writing project reports and proposals to obtain extramural funding;
conducting library research; overseeing and maintaining accurate records of laboratory activities; assisting with training of junior research staff and students in research methods and equipment operation; setting up and operating laboratory equipment; monitoring research supplies and initiating procurement as needed.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required;
- 4 years of relevant experience with a High School diploma or GED;
- 2 years of relevant experience with an Associate's Degree;
- 0 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's Degree;
- Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research.
