Research Senior Associate - College of Medicine | Pathology

Job Responsibilities- Conduct complex scientific investigations in a foundational (basic) research laboratory in Pathology, College of Medicine.
- Specialize as a technical expert in Infectious diseases, Breast cancer, Leishmaniasis and Chagas disease.
- Collaborate with Principal Investigator (PI) to develop, manage and implement research projects.
- Plan, design, and conduct complex & advanced research; execute advanced molecular biological and biochemical procedures.
- Extract, analyze & evaluate experimental data; develop and implement new or revised research methods.
- Assist PI in research & development efforts; determine and develop goals of projects; establish criteria & research standards.
- Plan and write manuscripts, articles, abstracts and research reports for publication in scientific journals.
- Attend and present research results at national and international scientific conferences and workshops.
- Actively contribute to developing, writing, editing and critiquing research grant proposals; investigate potential sources of funding.
- Participate in developing and establishing working relationships with current & potential sponsors of research.
- Oversee appropriate maintenance of all laboratory equipment; negotiate and oversee equipment service contracts and repairs.
- Participate in developing and implementing laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safety Manual.
- Monitor, oversee & ensure compliance to local, state and federal laboratory health and safety rules, regulations and guidelines.
- Provide training of research staff in executing new research methods; serve as a consultant to other investigators in area of expertise.
- Master's Degree and 1 year of relevant experience, Bachelor's degree and 3 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- PhD preferred.
