Post Doctoral Scholar - Neuroscience Department:

Medicine | School Biomedical Sciences Neuroscience

Post Doctoral Researcher to pursue continued research experience and training within the Department of Neuroscience; conducts independent research under the guidance of his/her scientific mentor to investigate the epigenetic, transcriptional, molecular mechanisms of axon regeneration/degeneration.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth research with independence

  • Design and lead your research project, but with sufficient guidance and mentoring

  • Direct the work of small research teams

  • Ensure the validity and reliability of data

  • Maintain accurate and complete records

  • Write reports for submission to research sponsors

  • Present findings to colleagues and at conferences

  • Submit publications to high-impact refereed journal

  • Perform in vivo experiments on mouse models of nerve and spine injuries

  • Collaborate with team members to analyze and integrate different kinds of transcriptomics, epigenomics, and proteomics data.

  • Engage in collaborative projects within the lab and across the scientific community, contributing to lab meetings, journal clubs, and collaborative publications.

  • Assist in the supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate research students and research assistants

  • Ability to attract external research funding

  • Attend relevant workshops and conferences

  • Develop contacts and research collaborations within the College and the wider community

  • Promote the reputation of the Group, the Department, and the College

  • Participate in developing and managing grant budget

  • Monitor expenses

Experience and Qualifications Required and/or Desired:

PhD or equivalent degree required;
Experience in cellular and RNA biology and animal work is required. Experience in bioinformatics preferred.
