Role OverviewAs a Research Development Specialist for the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), you will lead the development of research proposals through integrated project management, emphasizing large-scale, multidisciplinary research grants and contracts with budgets typically exceeding $500,000 direct costs per year. You will identify early opportunities, coordinate with investigators, and build research teams aligned with university, state, and federal priorities to increase success in securing large-scale extramural research awards.
EssentialDuties
- 50% – Grant submission preparation:
Supports research faculty by coordinating preparation of large-scale grant applications, ensuring timely submission, coordinating with sponsors, investigators, and OSU entities, and writing/compiling select portions of research and program grant applications. - 25% – Opportunity identification:
Works with investigators to identify potential extramural funding opportunities and understand requirements and specifications. - 10% – Early-stage team building:
Facilitates multidisciplinary research team building efforts that support future large-scale grant applications. - 5% – Metrics collation:
Ongoing collation of CTSI metrics regarding overall research and program activities (publications, presentations, grant applications, funding, etc). - 5% – Meetings and professional development:
Attends institute and other relevant internal meetings; attends national professional and scientific conferences to continue professional development. - 5% – Other activities:
Supports the ongoing research development within the department as assigned.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience; advanced degree preferred.
- 4 years of relevant experience required; 4-8 years preferred.
- Grant writing, editing, and project management skills.
- Demonstrated experience preparing PIs and proposal teams leading up to an opportunity.
