Pay Range

Base: $60,000.00/yr – $70,000.00/yr

About the Company

Dr. Mingtao Zhao’s laboratory in the Center for Cardiovascular Research at Nationwide Children’s Hospital uses patient-derived iPSCs, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, organoids, and single‑cell genomics to study the molecular and genetic mechanisms of cardiovascular development and congenital heart disease for translational applications. About the Role

Successful candidates should have a PhD, MD, or equivalent degree. Additional expertise in bioinformatics, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, or tissue engineering is preferred. Current trainees are funded by the NIH F31 Predoctoral, NIH F32 Postdoctoral, and AHA Postdoctoral Fellowships. The selected candidate will lead research projects, design experiments, analyze data, and present findings at regional, national, and international conferences. Appointment is a maximum of 7 years in length.

Responsibilities
  • Design experiments, develop protocols, and conduct research under the guidance of a faculty mentor.
  • Assist in the training and supervision of technical support staff in performing techniques essential to the research program.
  • Record and analyze data generated by the research study.
  • Assist in developing hypotheses for further investigation based on study results.
  • Help prepare scientific and technical papers for publication in peer‑reviewed journals.
  • Present findings at local and national research forums.
  • Collaborate with ongoing research efforts at NCH or The Ohio State University.
  • Work toward research independence, preparing to submit proposals to and obtain funding from external granting agencies.
Qualifications
  • PhD, MD, or equivalent degree required.
  • Preferred additional expertise in bioinformatics, CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing, or tissue engineering.
  • Applicants must be current trainees funded by NIH F31, F32, or AHA Postdoctoral Fellowships for eligibility.
