Postdoctoral Scientist – Vidu Garg Lab in Cardiac Development
The Garg Lab studies the molecular mechanisms of congenital cardiovascular disease. The lab is seeking a postdoctoral scientist to investigate the "Mechanisms and Therapeutics for Congenital Aortic Valve Disease." This NIH‑funded project studies the cellular and molecular pathways underlying the development and disease progression of congenital aortic valve stenosis using a genetic murine model. Novel therapeutics will be tested to prevent or slow stenotic disease progression.

Base Pay Range$60,000 – $70,000 per year
SummaryConducts research, designs experiments, analyzes data, and presents findings under the mentorship of an established principal investigator or senior research scientist. The appointment is a maximum of 7 years.
Essential Functions- Designs experiments, develops protocols, and conducts research under the guidance of a faculty mentor.
- Assists in the training and supervision of technical support staff in performing specific techniques essential to carrying out the research program.
- Records and analyzes data generated by the research study and develops hypotheses for further investigation based on the results.
- Assists with the preparation of scientific and technical papers for publication in peer‑reviewed journals and presents findings at local and national research forums.
- Collaborates with other ongoing research efforts at NCH or at The Ohio State University.
- Works toward research independence, preparing to submit proposals to and obtain funding from external granting agencies.
- PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant field of science, required.
- Effective interpersonal skills for interactions with scientists, physicians, and laboratory colleagues.
- Excellent laboratory technical skills.
- Proficiency in qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Ability to proactively manage and drive projects.
