Job Title:
Research Technician 3 - Comprehensive Cancer Center
Department: CCC | Comprehensive Cancer Center
This individual will provide technical support to the research and scientific investigations for the Bloomfield Center for Leukemia Outcomes Research in the Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Duties- Perform flow cytometry to sort patient samples and serve as the point of contact for flow cytometry studies in the Bloomfield Center.
- Perform a variety of molecular, cellular and biological research techniques including PCR reactions, DNA and RNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, cell culture, Northern and Western blot assays, sample processing and library preparation.
- Assist with general lab maintenance and troubleshooting of new procedures as well as picking up patient samples from the tissue bank, tissue archives or patient rooms.
- Assist with handling of lab animals and routine procedures on lab animals such as weight monitoring and administration of medication.
- Record research results, summarize data for publications and grant proposals and prepare research progress reports.
- Maintain accurate records and have good communication skills.
- Attend lab meetings and conduct literature reviews on requested topics.
