Postdoctoral Scientist – Vidu Garg Lab in Cardiovascular Research

Nationwide Children's Hospital – Pay Range: $60,000–$70,000 per year. (

Overview:
The Vidu Garg Lab studies molecular mechanisms of congenital cardiovascular disease. This NIH‑funded project focuses on congenital aortic valve stenosis using a genetic murine model, with aims to test novel therapeutics that prevent or slow disease progression.

Responsibilities

Required experience:

genetically modified mouse models (handling, colony management, drug treatments), cardiovascular physiology, cardiac development, genomics; mouse echocardiography highly desired.

Essential Functions
  • Designs experiments, develops protocols, and conducts research under the guidance of a faculty mentor.
  • Assists in the training and supervision of technical staff in performing specific techniques essential to carrying out the research program.
  • Records and analyzes data and assists in hypothesis development from study results.
  • Assists with preparation of scientific and technical papers for publication in peer‑reviewed journals and presents findings at local and national research forums.
  • Collaborates with other ongoing research efforts at NCH or The Ohio State University.
  • Works toward research independence, preparing to submit proposals to and obtain external funding.
Education
  • PhD or equivalent degree in a relevant field of science, required.
Skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills for interactions with scientists, physicians, and laboratory colleagues.
  • Excellent laboratory technical skills.
  • Skills in qualitative and quantitative research methods.
  • Ability to proactively manage and drive projects.
