Researcher 3

Job Summary:

The Researcher 3 will conduct complex scientific investigations in a translational laboratory in the OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center experimental hematology laboratory, joining as a specialist or technical expert in Immunology, molecular biology and mouse models of human diseases; collaborates with Principal Investigator (PI) Natarajan Muthusamy, to develop, manage and implement research projects; plans, designs, and conducts complex & advanced research; plans and executes advanced molecular biological and biochemical procedures specializing & providing technical expertise in the area or phase of project in which expertise is required;

extracts, analyzes & evaluates experimental data; develops and implements new or revised research methods; assists PI in research & development efforts of new research projects; works closely with PI to determine and develop goals of projects; develops and establishes criteria & research standards to meet goals of research projects; plans and writes manuscripts, articles, abstracts and research reports for publication in scientific journals;

attends and presents research results at national and international scientific conferences and workshops; actively contributes to developing, writing, editing and critiquing research grant proposals; investigates potential sources of funding and makes recommendations to principal investigators; participates in developing and establishing working relationships with current & potential sponsors of research; oversees appropriate maintenance of all laboratory equipment; negotiates and oversees equipment service contracts and repairs;

participates in developing and implementing laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Safety Manual; monitors, oversees & ensures compliance to local, state and federal laboratory health and safety rules, regulations and guidelines; provides training of research staff in executing new research methods; serves as a consultant to other investigators in area of expertise.

Responsibilities

The Researcher 3 will collaborate with PI Natarajan Muthusamy to develop, implement, and drive research projects, plan and execute advanced molecular and biochemical procedures, evaluate experimental data, develop new research methods, support grant writing, liaise with sponsors, maintain laboratory equipment, enforce SOPs and safety regulations, and provide technical mentorship to staff.

Minimum

Required Qualifications
  • PhD in Biotechnology required
  • 5‑6 years of relevant experience required
  • 6‑8 years of relevant experience preferred
