The Sales Assistant supports the dining operation serving students, staff and guests of The Ohio State University; greets and serves customers; operates coffee equipment, makes gourmet coffee and specialty drinks; prepares and handles food and beverage orders; collects payment by cash, credit or Buck , prepares sales reports; takes daily inventory; stocks shelves, freezers, and coolers; maintains a clean and sanitary service and work area;
position makes decisions based on established policies and procedures under the direction of the supervisor. This is a temporary staff position that is not to exceed 12 months.
- High School diploma or GED
- Required: High school diploma or GED; ability to communicate effectively; successful completion of a background check.
- Desired: 0-2 years of front-line customer service experience; 1 year of experience taking and filling food orders; 1 year of experience brewing premium coffees and making espresso-based drinks; 1 year of cash handling experience; 1 year of experience in taking inventories; 1 year of experience in placing orders or requisitioning supplies.
The Ohio State University’s Student Life Dining Services is a premier campus dining department dedicated to serving students, staff, faculty and guests. Critical to the Residential Experience, Dining Services administers the student meal plan to approximately 15,000 residential students on the Columbus, Mansfield, Marion, Newark and Wooster campuses.
