General
Purpose:
- Area Supervisors are responsible for a specific, assigned area of the store, including opening and closing, supervising associates, and maintaining a friendly, easy‑to‑shop environment.
- Supervise company operational processes, ensure proper merchandise presentation, and keep work areas clean.
- Act as Manager on Duty when the store manager is absent.
- Safety & Security – Maintain a safe environment, manage building security, and respond to safety incidents.
- Customer Service – Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect and professionalism.
- Brand & Presentation – Represent the Ross brand, maintain a professional appearance and store aesthetics.
- Merchandising – Ensure accurate markdowns, receive merchandise, and maintain merchandise organization.
- Loss Prevention – Uphold loss prevention policies, conduct package inspections, and safeguard merchandise.
- Front‑End Operations – Oversee cash registers, training, schedule, and merchandise scanning.
- Fitting Rooms – Maintain cleanliness and compliance.
- Administrative Duties – Manage cash pulls, bank deposits, payroll, and other store management duties.
- Competencies – Manage work processes, business acumen, planning, talent building, collaboration, and communication.
- Excellent verbal communication and fluency in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with POS equipment and basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends.
- Use all store equipment and stand, walk, and move around the store for up to 100% of working time.
- Regularly bend, squat, kneel, climb, and lift more than 25 lbs (and more than 20 lbs for stockroom shifts).
