Lutheran Social Services of Central Ohio is currently seeking a Security Officer for LSS CHOICES for Victims of Domestic Violence in Columbus, Ohio.

• Verify entrance for residents at the side door, primarily during curfew.
• Perform internal inspections of the CHOICES facility to ensure building security and identify any concerns. Report violations via the Unusual Incident Report procedure and inform direct supervisor.
• Perform exterior inspections via cameras to ensure building safety, report violations, and inform supervisor.
• Accompany Shelter Advocate and Case Management staff to de‑escalate incidents and/or threats of violence using staff training techniques.
• Respond to security concerns according to CHOICES/Lutheran Social Services policies and procedures.
• Utilize daily log to document incidents, occurrences, and shift activity. Submit log to manager and security team before shift end, and communicate any issues to the incoming shift Security Officer.
• Accompany staff when directed to conduct searches according to CHOICES policies & procedures for Reasonable Suspicion.
• Escort staff, volunteers, visitors, and other persons to and from vehicles as requested or necessary.
• Maintain a professional demeanor with residents, donors, volunteers, and staff.
• Follow all CHOICES policies and procedures; refer to the LSS handbook.

• High School degree, GED, or equivalent work experience required.
• Previous experience in a security role preferred.
• Previous experience working with a diverse population preferred.
• Previous experience in a residential social service setting preferred.
• Valid Ohio driver’s license and ability to meet LSS insurance standards required.
