Plumbing Estimator

Position Summary

Responsible for estimation and takeoffs of plumbing, HVAC including sheet metal and/or fire protection projects. The individual should have a good understanding of all aspects of estimating for mechanical contracting and be able to communicate effectively with contractors, designers, owners, and job-site personnel, while representing TP Mechanical Contractors in a professional manner.

• Reading and understanding project specifications and drawings.
• Provide project material takeoffs and pricing.
• Attends project site surveys and walks.
• Ability to obtain quotes from subcontractors and suppliers.
• Must stay current with all estimating software and attend training as needed and/or required.
• Provides the VP of Estimating quantitative material take-offs and inputs information into spreadsheets.
• Ensures smooth and timely estimates.
• All other duties as assigned.

• Experience/Qualifications
  
  Required:
• 5 years’ experience in commercial plumbing, heating, and or fire protection estimating, or completion of approved apprenticeship program and 3 years’ experience as a Journeyman.
• 3-5 years prior estimating experience.
• Trimble Viewpoint and/or Quick Pen, Autodesk Est-MEP, and Quote Soft experience

• Ability to read and interpret technical documents.
• Knowledge of general plumbing, piping, sheet metal, HVAC, or fire protection (as assigned)
• Good math ability
• Good computer skills (knowledgeable with Microsoft Excel, Word, & Outlook)
• Detail oriented
• Good time management
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to learn new systems and technologies
• Bluebeam experience preferred
• Education:
• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent, required.
• Journeyman Plumber license or equivalent experience.
• Journeyman HVAC license or equivalent experience.
• Journeyman Fire Protection license or equivalent experience.
• Physical Requirements:
• Eyesight correctable to 20/50.
• Capable of job site tours, climbing ladders and on/off equipment, etc.
• Special Requirements:
• Valid driver’s license.
• OSHA 10 hours.
• Required to work onsite within office location.
