  • Five years of verifiable experience through professional sources as an automotive mechanic,

    including three (3) years working on heavy equipment such as trucks and buses or comparable equipment

  • Have a comprehensive understanding of standard repair methods for motor vehicles, including passenger automobiles, buses, and trucks

  • Must have knowledge of parts and equipment suppliers and the proper method of ordering

  • Possess oral and written communication skills and demonstrate the ability to follow and make necessary oral and written instructions and reports related to the operation of a maintenance/repair facility

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent; appropriate maintenance experience, training, and education may be considered in lieu of the diploma

  • Be knowledgeable about current and/or developing automotive energy-saving devices and fuels, including propane, diesel, etc.

  • Reports to:
    Bus Maintenance Supervisor

  • Position Goals:
    Assist the Supervisor in scheduling repairs and processing necessary paperwork to ensure proper maintenance of all district-owned vehicles

  • Terms of Employment: $30/hour

  • Performance Criteria:

  • 1. Preventive Maintenance

  • 1.01 Responsible for assisting in repairing and maintaining district-owned vehicles and equipment

  • 1.02 Establishes, schedules, and operates a preventive maintenance program for all district-owned vehicles, including periodic inspections of buses and annual Highway Patrol inspections

  • 1.03 Performs diagnosing and repair of district automotive equipment

  • 1.04 Maintains records of all maintenance and repair work

  • 1.05 Maintains high standards of safety and housekeeping in all work areas

  • 1.06 Reports safety hazards on buses and automotive equipment immediately to the superintendent

  • 1.07 Recommends purchasing of supplies to the Supervisor

  • 1.08 Performs other related work as directed
