Position Description
Immediately hiring a Permanent Full Time Experienced Mid-Level Diesel Technician to support our Truck Fleet at Ryder in Columbus, Ohio.

- Hourly Pay: $27.50 per hour
- Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification up to $700
- Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter
- Sign On Bonus: $1250 at 30 days and $1250 at 90 days
- Schedule:
Tuesday–Saturday - Hours:
Second Shift Tuesday–Friday, 2:00 pm–10:30 pm;
Saturdays 7:00 am–3:30 pm

- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Vocational/technical certification or post-secondary degree preferred
- Basic tools required
- Experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines: routine preventive maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work) and component inspections and repairs
- Combination of classroom training and work experience of at least 2 years
- Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A preferred
- Must be able to obtain a CDL within 6 months of hire
- Pass Ryder drug test
- Pass DOT physical
- Pass Ryder road test
- Pass Ryder background and motor vehicle check including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for last 3 years
- Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, standard maintenance, component inspections and repairs, preventive maintenance
- Diagnose mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computer when applicable
- Identify root cause of failures and perform required repairs
- Replace defective components as instructed
- Perform facility maintenance duties
- Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint
- Use shop management system and electronic documentation
- Work in accordance with federal/provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)
- Perform other support duties as required, e.g., service island support
