Under the general direction of the supervisor, performs complex tasks related to day‑to‑day inspections, preventive maintenance and repair of buildings and equipment. Duties include, but are not limited to: daily inspections, installations, general maintenance (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC) and repairs; identifying, communicating, coordinating and completing projects; responding to emergency situations; and operating department vehicles. Leads a team of technicians or is solely responsible for maintaining outpatient healthcare complexes greater than 110,000 square feet.

Mentors, trains and provides technical expertise to other staff, distributes work orders in the supervisor's absence, and assists other trades as needed while adhering to all safety practices.

• Perform day‑to‑day inspections and preventive maintenance on buildings and equipment.
• Install and repair plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC and other systems.
• Identify, communicate, coordinate and complete maintenance projects.
• Respond to emergency situations and correct defects.
• Lead a team of technicians or independently maintain large outpatient healthcare facilities.
• Mentor, train and provide technical expertise to staff.
• Distribute work orders and assist other trades.
• Adhere to safety practices, clean work areas, and complete proper documentation.
• Operate department vehicles and perform other duties assigned.
• Maintain a high level of customer service and communicate via written, electronic and verbal methods.
• Actively support university values of integrity and accountability.

High school diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience; three years of general maintenance experience or equivalent combination of education and experience in a team‑oriented, multi‑function setting.

Required

• Valid OSHA 30‑hour General Industry Safety and Health card.
• Demonstrated understanding of university building design standards (BDS) related to maintenance and repair of building systems and equipment.
• Demonstrated understanding of the project process as managed by FOD Design and Construction (FDC).
• Competence in carpentry, electrical, plumbing and HVAC/R as required for the position level.

Pay rate: $25.35 – $31.69 per hour based on experience. Eligible for evening and weekend shift premiums as applicable.

Regular, Full‑time, 40 hours per week.

First Shift; subject to operational need, overtime, and 24‑hour emergency call.

Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post‑offer process.
