Job DescriptionLocate Technicians are responsible for accurately locating underground facilities including telephone communication lines, electric power lines, cable television lines, gas lines, fiber optic lines, water lines, and sewer lines. This position is key to ensuring that the area complies with client and state requirements. Service duties include observing, locating, marking, and documenting underground and exposed utility locations using multiple methods. The technician will be dispatched to locate and verify for utility customers.
The technician can work independently or in a team environment and will work under an assigned supervisor. The job requires focus, skill, and the use of machinery and/or tools. - Obtain employment with Grid Hawk LLC after completing a background check (no violations within the last 5 years).
- Pass a DOT drug test.
- Use a transmitter to locate underground facilities by connecting to buried facilities, pedestals, etc.
- Work in and walk over all types of terrain, including construction zones and residential, commercial, industrial and rural areas, in all weather conditions.
- Interpret job order tickets, blueprints and maps to efficiently route and perform duties.
- Perform locates and emergency/on‑call locates during regular, overtime and holiday hours as needed.
- Perform all work in a timely, professional and efficient manner while effectively communicating with customers, co‑employees and third parties.
- Communicate with management team, contractors and utility customers to ensure a damage‑free environment.
- Utilize technology and tools appropriate to the task.
- Work with others in a supervised team environment.
- High school diploma or equivalency (GED).
- State‑issued driver’s license.
- Ability to problem solve.
- Skill to read, interpret and decipher multiple types of prints.
- Vacuum truck experience (A+).
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs.
- Ability to walk/stand for multiple hours a day.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Pass a background screening (no violations within the last 5 years).
- Pass a DOT drug test.
