This is a developing-level facilities maintenance position responsible for performing general and preventive maintenance and assisting with the upkeep of building equipment and systems. The position provides an opportunity for someone with basic maintenance or skilled-trade experience to develop additional skills in a large, complex Class A high-rise facility.

The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-minded, dependable, and interested in developing skills across multiple building trades.

What You'll Do:

  • Perform routine general maintenance involving HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, masonry, and mechanical systems under appropriate direction.
  • Complete assigned preventive maintenance tasks, inspections, filter changes, lubrication, cleaning, and equipment adjustments.
  • Assist experienced technicians with troubleshooting and repairing HVAC and mechanical equipment.
  • Perform basic plumbing repairs and assist with maintenance of piping, valves, pumps, fixtures, and related equipment.
  • Perform basic electrical maintenance and assist qualified technicians with electrical troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Complete minor carpentry and building repairs involving doors, hardware, drywall, ceiling tiles, wall base, and other building components.
  • Assist with the repair, replacement, and installation of building equipment and commercial appliances.
  • Respond to assigned service requests and provide professional and courteous service to Court employees and other customers.
  • Inspect assigned equipment and areas and report deficiencies, unsafe conditions, or needed repairs.
  • Safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment appropriate to the employee's training and experience.
  • Maintain clean, safe, and orderly mechanical rooms, shops, storage areas, and work locations.
  • Assist experienced technicians with facility emergencies and equipment failures.
  • Participate in technical and safety training to develop additional building-maintenance skills.
  • Participate in the department's on-call rotation as assigned and appropriately trained.
  • Follow applicable OSHA, NFPA, Court safety procedures, and Facilities Management policies.
