Job Summary:
Jackson County JFS is looking for a highly motivated, compassionate, and detail-oriented Social Worker to join the Child Protective Services (CPS) team. This position requires an innovative and resilient professional who is up to the challenge of working in the continuously evolving environment of child protection. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for promoting practices that strengthen family bonds, enhance parental engagement, and ensure the well-being and safety of children.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive investigations of alleged child abuse and neglect.
- Develop, implement, and monitor case service plans tailored to meet the specific needs of children and families.
- Provide ongoing casework services, including crisis intervention, home visits, and counseling referrals.
- Coordinate services with community partners, schools, law enforcement, and treatment providers.
- Prepare detailed, accurate case documentation, reports, and court testimony as required for legal proceedings.
- Actively promote parental engagement and work collaboratively with families to build protective capacities.
- Participate in on-call rotation for emergency after-hours situations.
- Bachelor’s degree (BSW) from an accredited university.
- Or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Sociology, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Human Services).
- Master of Social Work (MSW) degree.
- Current licensure as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW) or Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW) in the state of Ohio.
- Prior experience working in child protective services, foster care, or a related social service setting.
