Java Developer

BCforward is currently seeking a highly motivated Java Developer.

Candidates should have strengths in one or more of the following:

• Full Stack Development with strong Java backend experience
• Backend Java development with strong data engineering/data processing skills
• Advanced UI/front-end development expertise
• Strong AI engineering experience, specifically with Agentic AI, Claude, Git Hub Copilot, and MCP . Candidates must have deep engineering experience working with AI technologies—this is not a role for someone with AI knowledge but limited software engineering experience.

• Strong understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Unit Testing
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Strong communication skills are essential
• Years of experience are less important than demonstrated technical capability and problem-solving skills

The team is modernizing an outdated approvals platform by:

• Decommissioning approximately 10 stored procedures
• Moving business logic into middleware
• Deploying the solution as microservices within a modern architecture

• Initial 4-month contract (currently through end of year)
• 100% expected to extend
• No current intent to convert to full-time
